WOMENSWEAR | AW17
As the head designer at Paper London for SS18 I lead the collection development from concept, designing, art direction for creative online content, creative direction for photoshoots, and supervise the factory production.
Plucking references from Tarantino's Kill Bill took us on journey of Japanese florals, Japanese graphic artists for Autumn Winter 17 and subsequently adopting the attitudes of Ray Petri and the Buffalo Gang.
In the initial stages of the season I worked on the collection inspiration and moodboards. I researched trends, selected the colour palette, sourced fabrics and trims, and worked with mills on new print developments for the season. I designed in all products areas of the brand, sketching new designs in pencil and working with a pattern cutter to realise and refine the new shapes. My drawings were translated into illustrator sketches which I to build a seasonal rangeplan, allocating fabrics, colourways and prints to each group.
I worked directly with factories to make the initial samples, refining the details and construction of each piece. When the collection was fully sampled I worked with the creative director and photographer on the creative direction for the lookbook.
