KNITWEAR | AW17

Havng specialised in Knitwear design during my MA and early career I love designing the knitwear to compliment the wovens collection.

The yarn and stitch choices reflect the woven fabrics. The daisy appliqué is designed to mirror the

daisy silk print in a larger scale and adds a 3D element to the design. The electric blue nylon yarn is chosen for its

structural capabilities to create the bold silhouettes in 3 guage knit and to achieve clean cut folds in the finer guages.

The woven prints are also translated into knitted jacquards using a mixture of the clean and compact nylon yarn and

merino cashfeel wools. This combination keeps the crispness of the design while maintaining a luxury handfeel.

Based on the seasons theme and trend research I draw initial hand sketches to map out the knitwear designs. The silhouettes

are decided and notes are made outlining ideas for the best guages, yarns and stitches to achieve the desired shape

and attitude of the design.
